In critical standby applications batteries often form an integral part of a larger system and can also be the weakest link in the critical power path.  Even the most robust and durable battery can deviate from its performance parameters if subject to mishandling during transit, prolong storage, poor site conditions, in which internal battery conditions are hard to detect.  A single failure in one cell could cause open-circuit to the whole battery system and render it useless.

By deploying a proper care and proactive monitoring system, not only can you monitor the behaviour of the UPS battery system, the system also checks internal temperature, internal resistance and voltage of every single cell of the battery. If any of the batteries require attention, the system will trigger an alarm and flag for action. By using a technique called equalization, it allows each battery to be correctly charged and inherently extends the life expectancy of the battery. This way a UPS system can get the most out of the service life cycle of battery.
